Bang your head" is the debut of Swedish glam/sleaze metal band Lipstixx'n'Bulletz. I have to say this is probably the best sleaze metal I have heard since the last "Crashdiet" album; but let’s catch up from the beginning. A couple of months back I found out that Greek metal label "Sleazy Rider Records" had signed "Lipstixx..". Despite the label name it is quite uncommon even for them to sign foreign hair metal acts, so obviously I thought there must be something special about these guys. And it is the truth. Apart from the fact that they put together great songs, they benefit from the clearest production I have heard on a modern sleaze metal release; all instruments come through perfectly with even minor guitar, bass and drum solo/improvisation being perfectly audible. Equally important is the fact that their themes are actually somewhat generic evolving around partying, social relationships and above all appraising the heavy metal way of life and culture, so even fans who do not necessarily share a taste for sleaze metal will be able to connect to the songs on "Bang your Head". But the most important element that sets this band apart from most Sleaze bands is that they are melodic! Oh yes, that is MELODIC; more precisely you will find that most songs open with guitar melodies while during the choruses the guitars play the same melody that the vocals follow; needless to say the result is a reward to the listener's ears. The band consists of Andy Lipstixx (v,g),Mickey Sweet (d), Jamiee Teaze (b)and Rikki Bullet (g) who also demonstrates the biggest hair I've seen since the legendary "Nitro"... great fun indeed. But on a serious note these newcomers stand toe to toe with the leading modern sleaze bands namely "Crashdiet" and "Dirty Penny"; there is no bad song on this debut nor anything that could be accused as irrelevant material or boring. But if I had to pick one song as representative of their abilities and atmosphere that would be "My Heart belongs to you" as it sounds thunderous and honest. Lipstixx'n'Bulletz definitely take the Sleaze metal sound a step further with their debut album ..Bang your Head". I have to suggest that any fan of Sleaze metal, "Dirty Penny" or "Crashdiet" should get the "Lipstixx..." debut, there's an experience awaiting here. Review written by Nikiforos V. Skoumas
